Can you again re-iterate the warning about Aston-on-Trent Gravel Pits. There
is a hell of a lot of work going on here at the moment. The contractors are
obviously taking advantage of the fine weather and are working well into the
evening. Even at weekends they are now patrolling the site presumably due to
vandalism and the presence of some fairly expensive machinery on site at
the moment. On Sunday two birders who regularly bird here and who, up to
now, have been tolerated by the work force were twice asked to leave the
site by these patrols. Please be very wary if visiting this site. Permission
can be granted but I gather it is a long job etc. and then you can only
visit during working hours.
